It's a free/open-source program for generating a perfect isosceles triangle with two sets of perpendicular lines. It can also be used to draw circles, ellipses, and spirals. The isosceles triangle from Gerber is fundamental when doing electronics or when using CAD software. The program's output is sent to the standard printer in order to produce an accurate technical drawing with dimensions marked by coordinates per second on all sides of the paper or on all sides of a surface determined by co-ordinates. The program was developed at the opening of the manufacturing plant for NTC Semiconductors, Inc., Arlington Heights Illinois, in September 2002, where it was used to prepare all technical drawings. The first version of GerberFamily was made by James Aplin who worked for NTC Semiconductor at that time. It featured two perpendicular horizontal and vertical lines. Later Ricardo G. Pereira developed a new version with three perpendicular horizontal and vertical lines. There are several versions developed by different people since then with many improvements to the CAD output CAD output file generation process. In 2006, the Gerber Family was made available as a public domain IT project. It is being administered by members from around the world on a non-profit basis. A new version of Gerber Family is under development as of May 2008.The "Gerber Triangle" program is based on Autodesk Inventor, but has been modified to produce a triangle with multiple lines on each face, and diagonal lines from vertex to vertex. The "Gerber Triangle 2D" has been modified also to include a fourth line coming from one face and going all the way across to another face, so that it's like "triangle-within-a-triangle". The "Gerber Triangle 3D" has been modified to include a fourth line coming from one face and going all the way across to another face, so that it is like "triple-within-a-triangle". The isosceles triangle with three perpendicular lines was developed by Ricardo Gerber. A version also exists with two perpendicular lines. There are various versions of this program that have been developed by different volunteers. These include: Exporting the GDB file to GerberTools.exe is practically worthless, as they fail to recognize the Gerber data type and will not draw correctly or at all in most drawing programs (especially in Windows). It isn't required to have GerberTools.exe on your computer, but rather can be obtained through the website. This is a free program that uses the same four design parameters as GerberTriangle.exe. It has been updated to have more information about the various parameters, so there are fewer changes needed by GDB users...........Previous online version of GerberTools.exe no longer worksGerber Triangle 2D is a clipart based on GerberTriangle.exe which has been updated to have more information about the various parameters, so there are fewer changes needed by GDB users........ This program was originally created by James Aplin for National Semiconductor Inc. cfa1e77820
